Update for June 2018

On Thursday 14 June and 12 July we shall be selling the visit on 19 July to Milton’s 17th century Cottage and the Parish Church, in Chalfont St Giles along with an afternoon visit to Chenies Manor in the Chilterns with a lovely garden, dating back to the 15th century. The cost is £32. Please remember you can only pay by cheque (maximum two tickets) – not cash. Lunch is available at £12.50 each to be booked when purchasing the Visit ticket. You may, however, choose to bring a picnic; there is a Tea Room for tea and cakes.

We shall also be selling our Special Interest Day "250 years of the Royal Academy". This will be held at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre on the morning of Thursday 6 September, £25. Both lectures will finish before lunch; again, cheques not cash.

May we also remind you that members can leave on-line comments on our Lectures, Special Interest Days and Visits on the “Feedback” page of our website under “News and Feedback”. We really do try to take the members’ views on board as well as reflecting what members tell us after each Lecture.

We know many of you find All Saints Hall less agreeable than Hersham Village Hall. The good news is that it sounds as if the Village Hall is going to be refurbished but, the suggested time scale is three years.

Regarding the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), that came into effect on 25 May 2018. It is a significant development in the use and management of personal data and we would like to give you reassurance about how TASW uses your personal data and keeps it safe.

We collect your personal information when you join as a member of TASW and enter your details on our membership forms, or when we meet you at events and you opt-in to receive our email updates. TASW will never sell, rent or trade email lists with other companies or businesses for marketing purposes. Your details are held securely by the Society. We use your information to update you on our activities; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied.

You are free to ask questions or unsubscribe from the list at any time by contacting the Membership Secretary (margaret.sale). You are also entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold.

Most of you know that to mark 50 years of NADFAS and The Arts Society, our Society, TASW, is putting on an Exhibition of works of art in the Gallery at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in September. It is open to all our Members and to adult residents of Elmbridge. Full details can be found on celebration.

And finally:
We realise many of our members arrive early for the lecture in order to get a car parking space. However, our Audio Visual team – several of whom have been performing this role since 2003 – need to get everything set up and the microphones tested on both the Speaker and the Chairman before members flood into the Hall and, quite naturally, chat to each other. Please respect the notice on the door requesting members to wait in the coffee lounge until the equipment is safely set up and the sound system has been tested in relative quiet. Our thanks to those of you who have waited in the coffee lounge until the sound system has been tested!
