As we approach the end of 2021, we will be our hosting our last Zoom monthly lecture for 2021. On 11 November, Simon Inglis will entertain us (via Zoom) charting the legacy of London’s rich, sporting and recreational heritage such as tennis at Hampton Court, Wembley, Wimbledon and Lords with his lecture “Played in London”. Simon is a British sports historian, architectural historian, writer and broadcaster, most notably about football and stadiums. We hope you will join us.
For our “Festive” Special Interest Event on 2 December (via Zoom) we welcome Sandy Burnett – “from Tchaikovsky to Tin Pan Alley”. We are sure this will prove to be an exciting and enjoyable lecture to start the Christmas festivities.
You should shortly receive your labels and programme card by post with an update of what is ahead in terms of Visits and Special Interest Events.
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to All Saints Church Hall in January 2022. Our first lecture of 2022 on 13 January is entitled “How to pick a Favourite Church” with Janet Gough. Janet was the Church of England’s Director of Church Buildings and Secretary of the Church Buildings Council and Cathedrals Fabric Commission so has lots of experience to share with us.
We are now looking forward to 2022 and, hopefully, “business as usual”. If anyone is willing to assist the Committee – especially with afternoon teas on lecture days – please let a member of the Committee know.
Thank you for your continued support and we very much hope to see you early next year!
