May News Update

The Chairman, John Smith, gave a short presentation to explain the NADFAS rebranding. It is changing its name to The Arts Society, with effect from 17 May 2017. This has resulted in a change of our name from Walton & Hersham DFAS to “The Arts Society Walton”. Details of our new website were announced together with the new logos and banner (Canaletto “A View of Walton Bridge 1754” – by permission of the trustees of Dulwich Picture Gallery, London). The new website has been designed by Laurence Shafe (past Chairman of WHDFAS) for which the Society is extremely grateful.

Change of date of next lecture to 15 June “The Splendours of North Africa – Roman and Islamic Art of Libya, Tunis and Morocco” – when we will be selling tickets for:

  • Visit to Chartwell House and Gardens on 19 July
  • Special Interest Day “The Romanovs – Tyrants and Martyrs of Imperial Russia” 7 September

Following the success in the National Chairman’s Young Arts Competition 2017 there was a display of the entries from Burhill Primary School and Bell Farm Primary school.

There will be Committee vacancies in 2018 for Young Arts and Special Interest Day organisers as well as Secretary. Please contact the Chairman, Vice Chairman or any member of the existing Committee for further information.
