March Update

On 8 March, Pamela Scott, our Chairman, welcomed Susie Harries who gave a fascinating lecture entitled “ Pevsner in Surrey – Nikolaus Pevsner and the Buildings of England”.

Details of The Arts Society Golden Anniversary were also announced (featured below). Information also appears on a new dedicated page on our website ( entitled “Celebration” (which can be found under “Activities”) and which will be updated from time to time over the coming months.

In addition there is now a page on our website to enable members to post their comments on our lectures. (Go to: and click on "Give us your view of the last lecture by clicking here"). We would be interested to hear from you.

We hope you will join us on 12 April to listen to Tobias Capwell, Curator of Arms and Armour at the Wallace Collection and Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. His lecture is entitled “The Scoliotic Knight: Reconstructing the Real Richard III” and will tell us how such a diminutive person could have been skilled in the fighting arts and fought in full armour in three battles, despite suffering a significant spinal condition.

We look forward to seeing you in April.
