On 9 November, Pamela Scott, Chairman, welcomed 128 members and five guests to the Society’s Lecture entitled “Basingstoke and its Contribution to World Culture”. Rupert Willoughby, gave an amusing and interesting talk which met with great enthusiasm!

Renewal packs for 2018 were distributed to those members attending. For those members not attending the lecture you should receive your renewal pack by post. If you do not receive your pack within the next week or so please contact the Membership Secretary, Margaret Sale (margaret.sale or on 01932 840583) Some members have not yet renewed their membership, but it is not too late so please let Margaret know if you would like to renew for 2018.

Bookings are still open for the Festive Supper (7 December – evening) when we will hear about Mrs Beeton’s Christmas. If you have not purchased your ticket and wish to come, please contact Alison Lornie (01932 845372) or alison.lornie. or Pat Crisp (pat.crisp).

The Committee looks forward to seeing you again on 11 January 2018. Our first lecture of the New Year is entitled “Smiths, Singers and Shapeshifters: Celtic Art of the British Isles” with Justine Hopkins.
