On 14 September, John Smith, Chairman, welcomed 134 members and six guests to All Saints Church Hall, the Society’s new venue following the closure of Hersham Village Hall.

Caroline Shenton’s gave an interesting lecture entitled “Mr Barry’s Great Work – Rebuilding the New Houses of Parliament”. Please note : there are a few tickets available for the Visit to the Houses of Parliament on 16 October. Please contact Val Woolford (01932 252007) for further information.

Membership renewals for 2018 have been posted and we ask that you renew no later than the end of September. Our AGM is on 12 October and we would like to offer membership to anyone on the waiting list. We will also be taking bookings for the Festive Supper (7 December – evening) when we will hear all about Mrs Beeton’s Christmas.

The overall impression of our new venue was positive, but the Committee realises it will take a few meetings to make sure that everyone can see the screen, hear the lecturer and to take on board any comments from members. We look forward to seeing you in 2018.
